Logo for Acacia Rising Counseling Center (Bend, OR)
Pen&Ink, Watercolor, Photoshop
This is a logo I designed for Acacia Rising Counseling Center in Bend, Oregon. It was perhaps the one of the most challenging logos I've ever had to design because the client had so many different elements she wanted featured in the logo including: 1. An acacia tree, 2. Two silhouetted faces looking at each other which made up the shape of the acacia tree, 3. A heart in the middle of the acacia tree with a crack in the heart (this is the second heart shape I designed because the first one was more symmetric and thus she thought it looked "more masculine"), 4. A rainbow coloring for the heart (because this was to be a counseling center for gay & lesbian people), 5. A moon next to the rainbow heart, 6. A tail on the heart in the middle of the acacia tree which looked like a bolt of lightning, 7. Roots which looked like an explosion of energy. In addition, I thought it important to include the name of the counseling center, because the logo was so esoteric and counseling itself is such a nebulous practice, that if logo didn't include the name of the service being offered, there was a good chance people would think the logo for some kind of tree nursery or a gardening-products store.
