Sir, can you lend me a duck?
I need to float down the coast
and the whales are all gone this time of year.
Going to see a friend of mine,
who has lost her way.
Seems Hollywood isn’t always as it seems.

I found a coin
that looked like a quarter,
claimed to be a dollar,
and which my dad said, “Wasn’t worth a dime.”
Kind of like a pauper
that looks like a prince.
Everyone wants to be the King of Siam,
if just for a day.
Too bad nobody knows where Siam is.
A king without a country
is just like a cavalry-man without a horse.
So in a sense,
we are all
King George Custar.
Waiting for hubris
to throw its fateful tomahawk,
Cutting us down in a timely manner.
Legends always die young
Before their elderly reflections
Can reveal their real humanity.
Show your flaws,
expose them,
and hopefully they will fall-off
as you trudge by the wayside.
Kings in head,
Penniless in hand,
Legends by dawn.
