Literature Text

Out of left field she descends
Upon my conscious
A beauty I had occasionally known
In foggy memories
And subsequent dreams
Materialized
Right in front of me
(Well, make up your mind, is she left or right?)
Right, definitely right…
How could she be wrong?
She looked so excited
To see me
Yet, I doubt she really was
Half as excited
As I was to be seen;
Funny thing, being noticed
It makes a strong man weak
A smart man dull
And a poet tongue-tied
Man, I dig this chick
Who I've known
But never knew
How I wish
I could have spoke
And sang
And danced with her
In that afternoon
Parking-lot
Just the two of us
Free and easy
Like we could have been
Had I spoken up years ago
Well, I am speaking now
And shouting
"Moriarty, stay away from this one"
I dig her
Yes, yes
I dig her.
A poem for Mr. Kerouac.
