Black Acid

Black acid creeps
through the veins
Drains
away the days
Haunts the night
with silent screams
She dreams
of immobilized moments
And Betrayal
Which make her frail
Filled with doubt
whether she is safe
with her thoughts
or memories
or wrists
exposed like her heart
to open breezes
and changing winds
The acid begins to boil
She is a thousand miles and years removed
Once again trying to disprove
she is good enough
to be free
or loved
or safe
But she is
She so totally is
Strong despite her weaknesses
Beautiful despite the ugliness only she sees
She is perfect in her imperfection
And the black acid can feel this
So it clutters her emotions every chance it gets
mutters to itself
shutters in its dark well
Because it can feel she is stronger than it is
and if she ever realizes it
it will vanish
and she will be free
to feel the happiness
she well deserves
